Privacy

FinanceOCRTools needs no account and no email. This page says what leaves your device when you use a tool, how long our server keeps it, and what we count.

What is uploaded

When you convert a statement, the file goes to our own conversion server, which reads it and sends the rows back to your browser. That is the PDF, or the photos or scans of its pages. Photos may be resized or re-encoded in your browser first. The file name stays in your browser; the server receives the file without it.

The review table, your fixes and the Excel or CSV file are made in your browser. Saving the result does not upload anything.

How long it is kept

The extracted rows are deleted 1 hour after reading finishes, and the uploaded file 1 hour after its last job ends. Cleanup runs every minute, so removal can trail those times slightly. If you start another file or cancel, the site also asks the server to delete the earlier upload and its job. There is no account to keep anything in, so save your file before then.

PDF passwords

If a PDF is password protected, you type the password into the page and your browser opens the PDF itself. The password never leaves your device. The unlocked copy, without the password, is what gets uploaded.

Verification when an upload starts

When you start an upload, the site opens a session with our server, which sets one cookie, kept for 7 days, so it knows which files are yours. If the server asks for it, Cloudflare Turnstile then checks that the request comes from a person. Turnstile is loaded only at that moment.

What we count

We count page views, clicks on links to other sites, and a few tool steps with OpenPanel on our own server. OpenPanel sets no cookies. The address and referrer it records have the query string and the part after # removed. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, OpenPanel is not loaded at all and nothing is counted.

These are the only tool events. Each also carries tool, the tool's name, and only the values listed here.

  • upload You choose a file or the sample.

    • input_kind: pdf, image, sample, other
  • convert_done Reading finishes.

    • outcome: usable, partial, empty
    • needs_review: 0, 1-2, 3-10, 11+
  • convert_error Reading stops with an error, or cannot start.

    • code: a known error code such as file_too_large
    • recovery: final, recoverable

No file names, file sizes, file or job ids, or document text are sent. An event with any other key or value is dropped whole.
