Convert a bank statement to Excel in 3 steps

No sign-up, no settings. The same three steps you’ll see in the converter above.

  1. Upload your statement

A PDF from your online banking, a scan or a photo, up to 20 pages and 20 MB. Password-protected PDFs are unlocked in your browser.

  2. We read and check it

Every transaction becomes a row, and each running balance is checked against the row above and the closing balance.

  3. Download Excel

Pick Excel or CSV. Rows that need a check are marked yellow. Files are deleted 1 hour after extraction.

What the Excel file looks like

An example conversion: one row per transaction with debit, credit and running balance. Rows that need a check stay marked so you can check them in Excel.

Every statement is checked before you download

Rows are only useful if they add up. Each running balance is checked against the row above, and the total against the closing balance your bank prints.

Every run, automatically

  • Running balance, row by row

Each balance should equal the one above plus that row’s credit or minus its debit. A row that doesn’t follow is flagged, never corrected.

  • Opening to closing balance

The opening balance plus every row is compared with the closing balance printed on the statement.

  • Dates in order

A date that is out of order with the rows around it is flagged.

  • Complete rows

A row missing its date, description or amount is flagged rather than guessed.

Questions before the first run

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, send us a note.

Printed English bank statements: PDFs from online banking, scans and photos. It looks for a table of dates and amounts rather than one bank’s layout, so check the yellow rows whichever bank it’s from.

Handwriting isn't supported yet. Printed statements work as PDFs, scans or photos.

Choose it as usual and enter the password when asked. The PDF is unlocked in your browser, and the password is never sent or stored.

Yes. Pages without a text layer are read with OCR. A blurry or tilted photo gives more rows to check, and the balance checks still run.

The rows that break the chain are marked yellow with the page they came from. Fix them here, or download and check them in Excel. We never change an amount to make it tie.

Your statement and its rows are deleted 1 hour after extraction. Download your file before then; there is no account to keep it in.

One statement at a time, up to 20 pages and 20 MB. For a longer statement, download a shorter period or split the PDF.
